Pray for <insert country>
A phrase wrapped up in fashion, and never out of season.
But who actually says a prayer?
Your eyes are glued to hashtags and handles
You didn’t realise that you had forgotten how to pray.

Pray for <insert country>
We pray for countries that are hit with sudden disasters
But deafen our ears to hear our neighbours cries.
We turn a blind eye to their struggles,
But widen our eyes to headline news.
Through the lenses of its paradoxes,
Shouldn’t we walk the talk and actually love our neighbours?.

Pray for <insert country>
Another memorial date to hold in silence
But the turmoil is still being replayed
In the victims’ eyes,
Whilst they pray for each other
To regain their lives.
